Jess & Reece married in St Ives
The Island Blockhouse Elopement, St Ives
Gossssssh! What a bloody treat!! Jess and Reece’s wedding small, family-only, elopement wedding a tthe fabulous new Island Blockhouse venue in St Ives. Absolutely spot on!! Just nine guests, no fuss, and all of it happening up at the Island Blockhouse in St Ives. I’ve photographed loads of weddings at the Island and the Guildhall, and I’ve shot more proposals at the Island than I can count, but this was my first actual wedding at the new venue. Honestly, it did not disappoint. It’s iconic. One of my favourite spots in St Ives, easily, and now that there is another venue there to get married, it’s an absolute blinder of a spot! You can’t get much better in my eyes!
They arrived separately and as everyone made their way up to the Blockhouse, I stood there and just took it all in, it was the perfect sunny day! If you know it, you know it. Right out on the headland, sea everywhere, wind usually doing its thing, and views that don’t care what camera you’re using.!! The ceremony was relaxed and lovely, with just family around them. No big crowd, no pressure. Jess and Reece were calm, smiling, and clearly just happy to be there doing it their way. Confetti flew straight after, which up there with the wind blowing hard felt slightly chaotic in the best way!!
Afterwards we stayed on the Island for photos. They didn’t want anything posey, stiff or forced, just relaxed and natural, which suited the vibe of the day and the location perfectly. We walked, talked, stopped when something looked good, and let the island do most of the work. Jess and Reece were great together. actual pros even though they didn’t know it!E
Inside, there were drinks, a few little toasts, and plenty of chatting before everyone headed off for food. No big schedule, no rushing about, just enjoying the day as it happened. That’s exactly how elopements should feel. This one had everything I love. Small numbers, real people, a place I already love, and finally getting to photograph a wedding at the Blockhouse after years of hoping one would land there. And with Jess and Reece? Couldn’t have picked better people to do it with.
Jess and Reece, thank you so much for having me along to be such a tiny part of your beautiful day! It was genuinely lovely to photograph and getting married up at the Island Blockhouse? Top tier decision!!!
