Wanna talk weddings with me?
Larmer Tree Wedding Photographer
Dear Dan,
Best wishes,
Nick & Claire
I am so lucky to say that I get to shoot some of the most incredible weddings in the world and I know that I do say this an awful lot but it really, really, REALLY is true! Claire and Nick’s wedding is a complete testament to this fact and I’m gonna show you why in the photos below!
The pair had been planning their wedding for a long time and with the pandemic affecting nearly every wedding in 2020 and 2021, I was super glad to see the big day finally come round.
I started the day at Claire’s family home where everyone was getting ready, I love the early morning vibe at a wedding. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I instantly get a good feeling about how the day is going to go and I could tell from the offset that was gonna be a super fun day!
The ceremony and reception were held at what is fast becoming one of my favourite new wedding venues (well quite new to me anyway!) Larmer Tree. I’ve been lucky enough to shoot lots as a Larmer Tree wedding photographer before (they also very kindly feature some of my photos on their website!) so when Claire and Nick enquired I jumped at the opportunity to be able to go back and shoot there again!! It’s such an insanely cool venue and honestly, it has the most amazing set of spaces for hosting weddings, all the weddings I shoot there have such a different experience to them.
Claire traveled from their family home in the coolest red Triumph stag (my Dad’s favourite car, and not exactly common on the roads these days, so was cool to see one in the flesh!). I was endlessly jealous of the super cool convertible. You’ll also see from the photos just why Larmer Tree is easily one of the coolest venues. They have peacocks roaming the grounds, lush greens expanding as far as you can see and one of the most amazing ceremony locations I think imaginable. They have a Roman temple which you can get married with as your backdrop, how many places can you seriously say that!
Right from the offset you can see just how much Claire and Nick love each other, they are just beaming the whole way through the ceremony and they never take their eyes off each other which I just love!! The thing I noticed most throughout the whole day was just how much everyone was enjoying themselves, everyone has a smile on their face and it was just plainly clear to see how much everyone was having the best time. It really does show in the photos.
We got incredibly lucky with the weather and with it being a September wedding you never can be too sure but the sun was out and beaming all day. I managed to sneak Claire and Nick away for a few photos on their own later in the day and we were super lucky to have use of the red convertible Triumph stag as an amazing backdrop combined with the beautiful setting sun along the tree-lined drive at the fabulous Larmer Tree Gardens. The venue really doesn’t disappoint and put on a serious show that day.
Lots and lots of people end up booking me because I have been very lucky in my career to take some seriously amazing sunset shots, and it’s always something I say to couples we can’t guarantee but I will try my best. I was on the lookout all evening for even a glimmer of the sunset having had beautiful sunny weather for most of the day, it was a little bit in doubt with how much cloud cover that was coming over fast.
I saw my opportunity and rushed to grab Claire and Nick just take a few photos out in the fields behind the venue and what a show we managed to get! The whole sunset probably only lasted five minutes if that and we got extremely lucky! You can see in the photos below just how quickly the cloud cover was coming in but it peeked through with just enough time for us to get a few photos. It was probably one of the most golden sunsets I’ve ever seen. Take a look at the photos and see for yourself! Everytime i’ve been a Larmer Tree Wedding Photographer i’ve had an epic sunset like this. So that’s a 100% sunset success rate* (*Please note I don’t guarantee sunset success rates in my packages sadly!!!). I was super glad to be able to get it for these guys when it was something mentioned from the offset.
Back inside after the epic sunset and next up was speeches! Speeches are one of my favourite parts of every wedding, I just love hearing about everyone’s past and how they managed to end up where they are today! All of the speeches were super emotional and absolutely hilarious; you’ll see that as a common theme throughout all the speeches, everyone is absolutely cracked up, they were just so so good!
Claire and Nick managed to work out a little routine for their epic first dance, which is always such a good thing because it gives me some of the most amazing opportunity to take awesome photos! The guests didn’t disappoint either and put on an insane dance show, What more could you want as a photographer!!!
I flipping loved this day, it was seriously awesome! These photos bring me flooding back to the day which was one I will not forget in a hurry!!
