Wanna talk weddings with me?
This is the lovely wedding of Rachel and Ricky Diamond. Like name like nature, these two really are absolute diamonds and this was such an amazing Cornish wedding from start to finish. Rachel and Ricky asked me to photograph the most important day of their lives, their wedding. This is a task I take extremely seriously and as always its such a privilege being asked to undertake wedding photography in Cornwall that I couldn’t say no, despite it being my birthday, I really cannot resist a good Cornwall wedding with lovely people! It’s something I don’t think I will ever take for granted. So when they asked, I was happy to take on the task of shooting what promised to be an amazing day, and boy did it deliver!
They both started off getting ready at the extremely stylish Polpier House in Mevagissy, Cornwall. They had hired out the whole place for the weekend and invited all of their friends and family down to share the most important day of their lives with them. So after much prep, tears from the brides Dad as he saw her for the first time in her wedding dress and lots of rushing to try and make it on time (only a tad late!) I headed over with them to Boscundle Manor in St Austell to photograph their wedding.
At Boscundle Manor they are blessed with the amazing opportunity to hold outdoor ceremony’s which is always such an awesome event (especially when the weather plays nice for Cornish wedding photographer!). Shortly after the ceremony I took one of my favourite images of the whole year, this was a brief and very intimate moment between Ricky and his Dad just moments after the ceremony whilst emotions were running high and his Dad was in tears, clearly extremely proud of his son. It’s often men don’t share emotions as easily as women sometimes, so the hug between Ricky and his Dad really struck a cord with me, hence being one of my favourite wedding photographs of the year.
Speeches were held just before they sat down to a mouth watering meal, now I’m not one for blushing or generally being speechless, but whilst shooting the speeches Rachel and Ricky had planned a birthday cake for me which they brought out as I was shooting the speeches and they all sung Happy birthday, gave me a card and shook my hand. I was completely speechless, my face was on fire with everyone making a fuss over me! (Luckily the photo evidence of this went missing!). Such an amazing thoughtful thing to do though!
The day progressed back to Polpier house where upon taking 10 minutes out of their day to grab a couple shots of the happy couple alone, there was some seriously great dancing, the best magician I think I have ever seen and Chinese lanterns that drifted worryingly close to nearby tree’s! All in all an absolutely amazing Cornish wedding day to photograph. I wish them both all of life’s happiness!
