THE BEST OF 2021
What can I honestly say about 2021 that’ll do it justice???!
It was honestly one of the maddest years by far, and without doubt the busiest year in the history of my little business down here in Cornwall. It’s been one non-stop whirlwind, filled to the brim with almost 2 years worth of weddings in a little less than six months. It was completely action packed and I sit here in January having finished photographing weddings in November and I still don’t feel like I’ve really recovered!!
I usually like to do my best of post sometime around November/December but with just how busy 2021 was I really didn’t feel like I could sit down and reflect on it fully at the time. So I taking a good bit of time off and I spent this time to really go through my work and also use this time to redo my whole website (which I hadn’t really updated in nearly 5 years!!!!) So that finally I can show off what I’ve actually been working on.
With the dreaded blight that has been COVID on everyone’s livelihoods I basically took 2020 off from weddings for the first time in almost 10 years. I think in the end I shot around 4 weddings and all of them were smaller half day weddings much much smaller than I am used to. For me it was one of the craziest things ever not having any sort of work to photograph and to be honest at first it was obviously terrifying (I’m sure everyone felt the same!!). Having to move everyone’s wedding and face the prospect of no work for a year is extremely daunting and just something you don’t ever want to face yourself. But I always want to put a positive spin on everything, so I made sure it became a bit of a blessing to have some time off from work, and to use the time to fully recharge, take some time out from being constantly busy and just really use the time to relax and unwind. So when 2021 came round I was super happy to be back shooting, doing the job I love and getting to spend lots of time with some fantastic people on the happiest day of their lives!
So all in all by comparison 2021 was crazy busy, not just compared to 2020 but compared to every year in my business so far!! In the end I shot 63 weddings as well as some family photography, proposal shoots, pre-wedding shoots and some really fun commercial work. Which was massively refreshing compared to the year before, I can tell you! After 2020 I don’t think I’ll ever take anything for granted again!
I always like to do these little roundups of the photos that I’ve taken throughout the year because it gives me a bit of sense of just what I have achieved and it allows me to relive all of the weddings that you guys have entrusted me with. And I honestly can’t thank you guys enough for that, knowing that so many people trust me to photograph the birthday of the life is huge praise and I am just so so thankful!
There have been some incredible moments throughout the year and the standard of weddings has been seriously seriously high! I have genuinely photographed some of my favourite weddings ever! I really can’t put a finger on which one was best as they have all been fantastic. So whilst I say this is a ‘best of’ I delivered somewhere in the region of 45,000+ photos throughout the year and it’s impossible to go through every photo taken. So what I’ve ended up doing is quickly choosing a couple of photos from as many weddings as possible just to showcase the vibe of the day and the love that was felt at every wedding. I really wish I could shed more photos from each wedding as there have been some incredible moments but if I did that you be here all day looking and it’s already just under 200 photos as it is!!
I really can’t wait for this year already, I’ve got quite an early start this year and have got another extremely busy year lined up. I cannot wait to get started, I’m like a kid at Christmas! As always I promise to try and share more photos throughout the year (last year I was completely rubbish at it), I tried to do as much of this as they can on Instagram as it is generally the easiest to upload to, but when wedding season gets really busy I just never end up having the time unfortunately! Anyway here is what I was up to last year, strap in and get looking, I recommend grabbing good drinking and getting stuck in, you could be here for a while!!
